RedHawk Offense Explodes for Win at Warsaw

The Goshen Varsity Baseball team picked up their first NLC win on Wednesday night by defeating the Warsaw Tigers by a score of 13-3 in 6 innings. Ryen Diaz started on the mound for the RedHawks and picked up the win on the mound. Diaz pitched all 6 innings scattering 8 hits and 3 runs while only walking one batter and struck out 5. The offense was led by Braxton Cline who went 3/4 with a home run and 3 RBIs. Cline also stole a base and scored 3 runs himself. Other contributors for the offense were Karter Marcum, Colton Rapp, and Kyan Miller. Marcum had 2 doubles and 3 RBIs, Rapp had a triple and scored 2 runs. Kyan Miller had 4 hits in 4 at bats, delivering a double and scored 3 runs. Goshen jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning. Warsaw jumped on their first inning opportunity and took the lead 2-1 after 1 inning. They added a 3rd run in the 3rd inning to make the score 3-1. In the top of the 4th, the RedHawk erupted for 9 runs, 3 of them on the Cline home run. They ended the inning with a 10-3 lead and then extended in to 13-3 in the 6th when Ryen Diaz had a 2 out, 2 RBI single to give the RedHawks the 10 run lead. They slammed the door in the 6th to end the game early. Goshen is back in action on Friday when they travel to Mishawaka for another NLC matchup against the Cavemen at 5:30pm.
