The Goshen RedHawks fell to Northridge on Monday night to open NLC play by a score of 5-2. Northridge jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning after a few extra base hits in the first inning. They extended that lead in the 2nd inning to 4-0 with some more offense. The RedHawks settled down after one more run scored in the 3rd inning for the Raiders, bringing the score to 5-0. Kyan Miller started on the mound for Goshen but settled in after a shaky start. He ended up pitching 5.1 innings allowing 4 earned runs and walked 4 batters. Bray Hoag came in relief and pitched 1.2 innings of perfect baseball. The RedHawks bats struggled to get going early but found some life in the 6th when Quinn Shreiner Landes, Kyan Miller, and Colton rapped strung together 4 hits to drive in 2 runs. Shreiner Landes and Miller each scored while Miller and Rapp each earned an RBI. The final frame looked promising as Hoag led off with a walk but the comeback effort was shut down after a double play on a hard hit ball from Jaxon Miller. Goshen continues NLC play on Wednesday when they travel to Warsaw to take on the Tigers. That game is set to begin at 5:30pm.
