RedHawk Baseball Beats Concord in Extra Innings

The Goshen RedHawks (4-7, 2-3 NLC) defeated Concord by a score of 4-3 in extra innings on Wednesday night. Jace Hershberger picked up the win on the mound for the RedHawks pitching 4 innings of relief allowing just 1 hit, 0 runs, and struck out 8 Minutemen batters. Ryen Diaz started the game on the mound and allowed 4 hits in 6 innings and gave up 3 runs with 5 strikeouts. The RedHawks jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 3rd inning when Caelan Miller scored on a wild pitch after reaching on a walk. The offense scored again in the bottom of the 5th when Quinn Shreiner Landes doubled to score Braxton Cline. Concord came back in the top of the 6th to score 3 runs and take a 3-2 lead heading into the 7th inning. In the bottom of the 7th, Caelan Miller led the inning off with a single and moved to 2nd base when Braxton Cline was hit by a pitch. Damian Castillo bunted the runners over to give the RedHawks a chance to win the game with a single. Kyan Miller hit a sacrifice fly to score Caelan Miller and tie the game up. Concord was able to get out of the inning before the RedHawks could finish the game. In extra innings both teams were held scoreless until the 10th inning when Damian Castillo hit a sacrifice fly to score Jace Hershberger and finish the game giving the RedHawks the 4-3 victory. Jace Hershberger had 2 hits in extra innings and scored the winning run in his first two at bats of the season on top of getting the victory on the mound.
