Varsity Baseball Picks up NLC Win at Plymouth

The Goshen varsity baseball team (4-7, 1-3 NLC) picked up their first conference victory on Monday night when they traveled to Plymouth and beat the Pilgrims by a score of 4-2. Kyan Miller, Jace Hershberger, and Ryen Diaz all contributed on the mound for the RedHawks in the victory. Miller started and pitched 5 innings, allowing 2 runs, walking only 1, and struck out 8 batters. Diaz picked up the save pitching 1.1 innings, giving up 2 hits and striking out one. Braxton Cline started the offense early hitting a 2 run home run in the first inning to score himself and Caelan Miller to give the RedHawks a 2-0 lead. In the 2nd inning, Payton Bontrager scored on a wild pitch to give Goshen the 3-0 lead. Colton Rapp scored Ryen Diaz on a single in the top of the 3rd inning to extend the lead to 4-0. The RedHawks would hang on to the lead to finish the game. Cline led the way with his home run while Payton Bontrager, Kyan Miller, and Caelan Miller each collected multiple hits. Goshen is back in action on Wednesday when they host the Concord Minutemen at 5:30pm at Phend Field.
