The Goshen RedHawks won their second straight sectional title on Monday night with a commanding 10-0 victory over the Concord Minutemen in just 6 innings. Goshen senior Ryen Diaz pitched a complete game, throwing just 77 pitches on his way to his 2nd straight sectional championship win. Diaz pitched 6 innings, allowing 0 runs on just 5 hits and 1 strikeout. This completed his 2nd win of the sectional and his 9th win on the season. After a leadoff single and a sacrifice bunt in the first inning, Diaz was able to eliminate the threat by retiring the next two batters to leave the first inning unscathed. The Goshen offense wasted no time to get things going on the night. Spencer Elliott led off with a single, followed by an RBI double from Braxton Cline and an RBI single from Jensen Meikle. After two outs, Bryson Wilson singled to get Meikle to second and Bray Hoag was able to drive home Meikle with the next swing. Goshen led 3-0 after 1 inning and never looked back. Jaxon Miller was able to extend the lead in the bottom of the 2nd inning on a single that brought home both Jensen Meikle and Spencer Elliott, giving Goshen the 5-0 advantage after 2 innings. After a scoreless 3rd inning for both teams, the RedHawks were able to extend their lead in the 4th inning. Colton Rapp hit a sacrifice fly to bring home Spencer Elliott, followed by a single from Bryson Wilson to score Jensen Meikle and Jaxon Miller. Goshen would lead 8-0 after 4 innings. Braxton Cline tacked on an RBI single to score Elliott and give the RedHawks a 9-0 advantage after 5 innings. Goshen loaded the bases in the 6th and Brycen Eaton hit an infield chopper that advanced all runners 1 base and brought home the game winning run via the 10 run rule. Bryson Wilson scored the run and Goshen brought home the sectional title. Goshen advances to the Class 4A regional against Lake Central. That game is scheduled for Saturday with the time and place TBD.
