The Goshen Baseball team picked up a wild walk off win on Wednesday night over Warsaw to open the class 4A sectional. Goshen trailed 2-1 heading into the last inning before scratching 2 runs across in the last inning to win the game 3-2 and advance to a Saturday matchup against Elkhart. Ryen Diaz pitched a complete game to pick up the win on the mound for the RedHawks. Diaz pitched 7 innings allowing 2 runs on 6 hits, 3 strikeouts and 5 walks. Diaz battled some crowded bases but was able to limit the damage and hold a high powered Warsaw offense to just 2 runs. Warsaw jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 3rd inning when Logan Kim was able to drive in Kael Miller on an RBI double. The Tigers extended their lead in the 4th inning when Rogan Bailey scored on a bases loaded walk giving them a 2-0 lead heading into the bottom of the 4th inning. Jaxon Miller led the inning off with a single, followed by a Colton Rapp walk to give Goshen runners on 1st and 2nd to start the inning. Bryson Wilson then singled to load the bases with nobody out to bring up Bray Hoag. Miller scored on a Hoag RBI sacrifice fly, but Goshen was unable to do more damage in the inning. The score would remain 2-1 until the bottom of the 7th inning. Looking for some last inning magic, the RedHawks turned to sophomore 9th batter, Brycen Eaton. Eaton hit a single to right field to lead the inning off. Spencer Elliott then bunted Eaton into scoring position to bring up Braxton Cline, who was intentionally walked to bring up Jensen Meikle. Meikle hit a soft pop up over the infielders head and dropped in front of the outfield to load the bases with 1 out. Jaxon Miller drew a bases loaded walk to tie the game up. After a Colton Rapp strikeout and the bases loaded with 2 outs, Braxton Cline took matters into his own hands at 3rd base. After an 0-1 pitch that was called a ball the Warsaw catcher threw the ball back to Quinton Brock on the mound and Cline took off for home. Cline was able to beat the throw back to Bradford and scored the game winning run. Goshen advances and brings their record to 20-6 on the season. They will face Elkhart in the 2nd round of the 4A sectional on Saturday morning. The RedHawks will play after the Concord vs. Northridge matchup. That game is set for a 10am start with the Goshen vs. Elkhart game to follow 30 minutes after.
