RedHawks Soar Past Westview

The Goshen RedHawks took a non-conference victory on the road on Saturday morning against Westview winning by a score of 20-4 in 5 innings. Colton Rapp and Manny Pizana split the pitching duties for the RedHawks. Rapp pitched the first 3 innings allowing 4 hits, 2 runs, 1 strikeout and 1 walk. Pizana pitched the last 2 innings allowing only 1 hit and 2 runs with 3 strikeouts. The RedHawks improved to 13-4 on the season. The RedHawk offense scored at least 1 run in every inning. Spencer Elliott led the game off with a walk and scored on a Braxton Cline double. Cline scored on a Colton Rapp ground out. Jensen Meikle scored on a Bray Hoag double and Hoag scored on a Brycen Eaton single to give Goshen the 4-0 lead before Rapp threw a single pitch. In the second inning Cline hit a 2 out single and was driven in by a Jensen Meikle double. Meikle scored on the next batter when Jaxon Miller hit a base hit bringing the score to 6-0. The 3rd inning saw some more runs for the offense. Bray Hoag led the inning off with a walk and was scored on a triple from senior Karter Marcum. Marcum scored on a Brycen Eaton ground out. Brady Kwilinski single and then scored on a double steal with Braxton Cline giving Goshen the 9-0 lead after the top of the 3rd. In the bottom of the 3rd Westview was able to push across 2 runs to cut the lead to 9-2. The 4th inning was the slowest inning for the Goshen offense. Brady Kwilinski singled to drive in Jaxon Miller but Colton Rapp was thrown out at the plate trying to score to end the inning with only 1 run and a 10-2 lead for Goshen. Westview then cut the score to 10-4 after 4. The 5th inning is when the Goshen offense exploded for 10 runs. Manny Pizana walked to bring in Spencer Elliott followed by a base hit from Bray Hoag to score Braxton Cline. Westview then made an error off the bat of Karter Marcum. Brycen Eaton walked to bring in a run and Kwilinski singled bringing in another run. Spencer Elliott his a 2 RBI double followed by a 3 run homerun off the bat off Braxton Cline. His second home run of the season. Goshen ended the day seeing all starters get at least 1 hit. Braxton Cline drove in 4 runs and Brycen Eaton drove in 3. Cline scored 4 runs and Hoag and Meikle each scored 3 runs. Goshen continues NLC play with a home game against the Mishawaka Cavemen at 5:30pm in Goshen.
