Despite another great pitching performance from Bray Hoag, the Goshen RedHawks lost 4-0 to Concord in NLC play. The RedHawks drop to 8-3 (4-1 NLC) on the season. Hoag pitched 6 innings allowing 4 runs (3 earned) with 6 strikeouts. Bryson Wilson pitched a scoreless 7th inning as well. After 3 straight games of scoring 11 runs, the RedHawk bats fell silent on Wednesday night. Goshen was able to get base runners in every inning but two on the night, but was unable to push a run across home safely. Braxton Cline hit a first inning single but was stranded. Concord broke a scoreless game in the top of the 3rd inning with 2 outs. After a walk, bunt and single, Concord was able to push across the games first run to take the 1-0 lead. The 5th inning for Concord consisted of multiple back to back plays that were the same. Goshen got back to back outs to start the inning, followed by back to back walks to get 2 runners on. After the 2 walks, Concord achieved back to back singles to score 3 more runs, bringing the score to 4-0. Goshen's best offensive chance came in the bottom of the 5th inning. Brycen Eaton and Spencer Elliott both reached on singles with 1 out in the 5th inning to bring up Braxton Cline. Cline ripped a single to left field and Brycen Eaton was thrown out at the plate for the 2nd out of the inning, squandering the comeback for the Goshen offense. Jensen Meikle flew out in the next at bat to end the threat. Despite 2 walks in the last inning for the Goshen offense, there were no runs scored to close out the game. The Goshen offense produced 6 hits on the evening. Braxton Cline led the offense with 2 hits. Spencer Elliott, Karter Marcum, Manny Pizana, and Brycen Eaton also had a hit on the night. Goshen returns to NLC play on Friday night when they travel to Syracuse for a matchup with Wawasee. That game is set to start at 5:30pm.
