The Goshen RedHawks baseball team improved to 7-2 (3-0 NLC) on Thursday night by a score of 11-0 behind a no-hitter from Senior pitcher Bray Hoag. Goshen traveled to Mishawaka on Thursday for a conference matchup that was moved up to potential bad weather on Friday night. As the visiting team, the RedHawks started the 1st inning with single and double from the first two hitters, Spencer Elliott and Braxton Cline. Elliott singled and then scored on the Cline double. Cline later scored on an overthrow to 3rd on a stolen base attempt giving the RedHawks a 2-0 lead before Hoag had to throw a pitch. Bray Hoag struck out the side in the first inning. The RedHawk bats fell silent outside a few base runners until the 6th inning when they broke the game open. In the 6th inning Karter Marcum, Spencer Elliott, Jensen Meikle, Colton Rapp, Jaxon Miller, and Bryson Wilson all singled to help break the game open and give Goshen a 7-0 lead after 6 innings. The RedHawks wanted to assure Hoag the win on the mound and got 4 more runs in the 7th. The biggest hit of the night came from senior Jensen Meikle who tripled after an 8 pitch at bat and drove in 2 runs on the play. Goshen ended their offensive inning in the 7th with a 11-0 lead and Hoag finished the game in order to secure his first varsity no-hitter. Hoag had been sidelined and limited in action for the last week due to a sprained ankle but was more than healthy in his return. He ended the night with a complete game, 1 walk, 7 strikeout performance in completion of the no-hitter. The RedHawks are off for a few days until they are back in action on Monday night when they travel to Plymouth for a 5:30pm start.
